This comforting Southern-style casserole combines tender shredded chicken with savory herb stuffing and a rich, creamy sauce. A beloved family favorite, it features a satisfyingly crisp golden-brown topping over a moist, flavorful interior. Perfectly simple to assemble, it provides a warm and hearty meal that is ideal for feeding a crowd on busy weeknights.
3 cups cooked shredded chicken
6 ounces herb stuffing mix
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, condensed soup, sour cream, and half of the chicken broth until smooth.
In a separate bowl, toss the stuffing mix with the melted butter and the remaining half of the chicken broth.
Spread the creamy chicken mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish.
Top the chicken mixture with the seasoned stuffing.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
You may substitute rotisserie chicken for freshly cooked chicken to save time. For a healthier alternative, Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream. If you prefer a different texture, try swapping the standard herb stuffing for a cornbread stuffing mix.
